Can I design my own training?

There is no clear cut yes or no answer to this one; it depends on your expertise. It’s generally recognised that you need to be educated to at least one level higher than you are teaching or training but this is not always the case. Certainly you need to be as qualified but you really need the experience to back up what you are training; that way you will be able to address most of the questions (see below) as they arise.

Here are some key pointers to determine if you can design your own training:

  • Can you use PowerPoint? Remember that PowerPoint (PPT) should be used to keep the trainer on track, list just a few key bullets and display pictures, photos and graphs – visual information
