Runnymede Safer Neighbourhood Team is delighted to have helped Royal Holloway, University of London scoop an award naming Egham the safest university town in the country.
The accolade awarded as a result of research by Stu.Rents.com shows the students in Egham were exposed to the least crime after details of more than 535,000 crimes in university towns across 64 areas were analysed. The recorded crimes all took place around hubs of student accommodation across the country. The rankings are based on figures relating to the period from the start of February 2014 end of January 2015.
Neighbourhood Inspector Roger Nield said that partnership working with the University and the Community Safety Partnership team is extremely important and a valuable part of creating a safe, secure environment in which local students can live and learn. He said:
